Schlag's Lecture's Response

Bro. Schlag's lecture talked about how to cooperate and to organize a stable information management. He shared his story when BYU Hawaii first have a website and how there are many conflicts and chaos pop-up about the style and the idea of unification of different pages. Back in the days, he detailed his story, many BYUH departments will hire their own webmaster to develop their website and store it in many different servers which lead to confusion between department and users because each page of the website have different front-page and style. He eventually assign to made the first information system management in BYUH to manage the conflict and bring every sites into the same page. However this idea have downside, that is they became slow and needed to put many departments in hold due to lack of human resources. Eventually BYUH information management came up with a solution, which is certifying some students to be a webmaster and equipped them with unified template of design and then 'distributing' these students webmasters among departments.
From this lecture I learn about how in an organization or in a company, managing a website is not as simple as turn your hand upside down. There are many aspects and elements involves in it. There are Board of directors that need to approve the design, there are the departments that have different issues and importance that needs to be address in their website and not to forget also the human resource of technical skills that is needed to develop the website. I learn to imagine the idea of cooperating management skills with the knowledge of IS. I think it will help much to know how to organize the system and manage it to fit and to be able to serve people's different importance.

Countryman's Lecture Response

Dr. Countryman's in his lecture talked much about how in the multimedia realm, especially with web-designing, there are two perspective or stand-point on how to view the design of a website. One point take us to view it from the technological side where with the development of programming language like Java and many other will improve the ability of a website to interact with costumer and suggest a better and more appealing presentation for the products or services that is being offered. The other perspective is from business side where cost, market segmentation, accessibility, and efficiencies are being some of the major consideration for a website to be develop.
His lecture shares that world wide web can be such a handy tool for business and marketing. However, some of the web developer just forgot or lost track on the business perspective and focus too much on the technological side. He mention that often times what is good and great for technological side not as effective as it should in the business side. From the lecture I learn much and started to introspect my design only to look nice, professional or appealing but also started to think that I better start to consider about the effectiveness of my design in conveying the message that I want to share with people. I also started to think that when I build my web its no longer only about me and what I really like but I also need to think about people who might access the web because the exposure of internet is global.
His last message was Internet is a great tool for business but sometimes because developer focus too much with the technology it is become less effective and efficient in delivering the message to the future customer.

One of the assignments that I received last semester was to design a website for a fictional company. My teacher allowed us to pick and create our own style, design, and even the fictional company. So I came up with this idea:

Many of you might wonder where am I or wonder why I still have not yet uploaded new materials or blogs. Well stop wondering and start reading.
For the past month I have been working on some of my school project and make it as my portfolio.

As for this post, I want to let you all know that I have a website.
A simple website that I made for my IT 240 class. Made it through the 'old-fashioned' way but it's, as my teacher said to us in the beginning of class, the ' right way'.

Cd Cover

I made this Cd Cover as one of my class project as well as helping my friend with their wedding shoot. The models in this project is my friends, Nate and Margie. They asked me earlier this month to help them with their wedding photos since they are getting married next April. We took the shots at the Hukilau Beach (Oahu, HI) and with permission from them I use some of their shots for my project.

No Entries

For you guys who has been following my blog or at least spent sometimes to see whether not I have been updating my blog, I am sorry to disappoint you all.
Yes there hasn't any entries since my last entries month ago. The reason behind it is simply because I have been busy with my other projects, papers from my other classes, and also because I am still looking for ideas.
