About e-Learning...

One of my assignments in my IDD class this week is to read and post my thought about e-Learning and Learning 2.0. I spent last couple days reading the materials, thinking, and pondering about Learning 2.0 and e-Learning. There are couple things that interest me about this Learning 2.0.
It became clear to me, as I read the materials, that most of the company spend most of their money in educating their employees so they can use their company resources better and become more productive. However, just because they have their training with an expert instructor, it doesn't automatically make them a better employees. There is a fatal assumption among us that if we see a room full with people and an instructor being in the front, that means a productive activity called training is taking place in that room. This assumption is fatal because having an expert instructor and a group of people 'listening' to its 'training' does not guarantee the transfer of information/instruction. A new method called Learning 2.0 is being develop lately to help to straight things up. Learning 2.o is not a teacher-centric or instructor-centric methods like the one we have know. It takes cooperation from the learner and the educator. In Learning 2.o everyone can be 'teachers' or 'mini teachers' for others. In addition to that, Learning 2.o-when combine with INTERNET networking- can save lots of money, space, and time for its participants.
Other things that interest me is the implementation of ADDIE in the e-Learning and Learning 2.0. ADDIE, an abbreviation for Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, is a method that requires its practitioners to use most of their time to do research and developing the solutions. Many of us sometimes do not realize the amount cost that is being 'waste' to fix an ineffective solutions or mistake is quite much. What important and needs to be remember from this concepts is before a solution is formulated for a certain problem, it is better to make a focus research about the problem so they, the company, can design and develop an effective training that will help increase employees' productivity and knowledge and also save the company's from a back-end griefs and extra expenses.

THE MAN BEHIND THIS BLOG HIMSELF

It's here finally. My first blog .
Actually I have been thinking about having one for a while. However, because one and other things I never make one (my bad).
This blog was created as a part of one of my class, IDD 302, requirement. I titled this blog: The Extravagant Life of Michael Jeremy.
The reason behind it is simply because I want to live extravagantly and I believe, so far, I have live up my dream which is to live extravagantly.
So who am I to have much confidence to say that I am an extravagant person ?
My name is Michael Jeremy, however I goes by Mike. I am a freshman in Brigham Young University Hawaii, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing in Instructional Design and Development/IDD. I come from the beautiful yet 'disastrous' archipelago country of Indonesia. For those of you who don't know where Indonesia is check the link below.
I was born in January 22nd, twenty something years ago. Both of my parents are LDS members and they, for sure, raised me in the church teachings. I grew up as the only young men in my branch back home so many mistakes I have did and done. Despite the mistakes and  the falls, I am gratefully say that I have serve my mission. I serve my mission in my own homeland, Indonesia. It is definitely the best two years of my life. I enrolled to Brigham Young University Hawaii a year after my mission. At first I have no idea what major I want to pursue because none of the majors that BYUH offers appeal to me.
It changed when one of my friends told me about IDD. It just click right after I heard it. After some careful 'research' from BYUH website and consulting with the advisor, I decided to pursue IDD. For me IDD is the only major close enough to my life time interest and passion. I have always interested in entertainment world since I was a little kid. I think the idea of turning people's dreams into reality is so amusing. I have always fascinated by the movies and its story telling technique. On this matter, I have made my steps, I was given a chance not so long ago, back in Indonesia, to participating in producing a short movie. In the future, I like to be involve and work in the multimedia-required industries.
So that is a bit of who I am.
Michael Jeremy, an Indonesian who want to live his life extravagantly.
